Let It Unfold
The Beauty of Becoming 🍂
I picked up a leaf the other day.
At first, I almost walked past it, but something about its colours caught my attention.
It wasn't completely green anymore, yet it hadn't fully turned brown. There were different shades woven together — a little bit of what had been and a little bit of what was becoming.
I stood there looking at it and realised how much that leaf reminded me of life.
There is something quietly beautiful about a leaf that carries more than one colour.
It isn't entirely green anymore, but it hasn't completely surrendered to the brown of the coming season either. It exists somewhere in between — changing, becoming, letting go and embracing what comes next.
Perhaps that is where many of us find ourselves in life...
In between.
We stand somewhere between who we were and who we are becoming, holding the prayers we once whispered while God prepares what is still unfolding, carrying healed wounds as our hearts slowly learn to trust again.
We often want everything to be certain. We want to know where something is going, how it will end and whether the path ahead will look the way we imagined.
God doesn't always give us the whole picture. Sometimes He simply gives us enough light for the next step.
That multicoloured leaf reminds me that change doesn't have to mean something is dying. Sometimes it means something is transforming.
There are seasons when God asks us to release what once was so that we can make room for what is becoming and that includes relationships.
Sometimes someone enters your life when you least expect it. It doesn't come with a perfectly mapped-out future, but with a sense that perhaps there is something worth exploring.
A new connection can feel both exciting and vulnerable.
You may carry the colours of your past with you — the lessons, the disappointments, the healing, the things you now know you will never settle for again and so does the other person.
Perhaps love isn't about finding someone who comes into your life completely untouched by life. Perhaps it's about finding someone who is willing to grow with you through the seasons.
Someone who can see the colours you carry without asking you to become something you're not. A person who understands that becoming takes time, that healing cannot be rushed and that some things need space to unfold. Instead of trying to control the process, they trust God to reveal what is meant to unfold, in His perfect timing.
“Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take.”
— Proverbs 3:6 NLT
This verse feels especially meaningful when something new is beginning, because not every new beginning needs to be rushed into a destination.
Some things are meant to be discovered and some relationships are meant to be nurtured slowly.
We don't need to know whether this is the beginning of a lifelong story. For now, we simply need to appreciate the beauty of the season we're standing in.
The multicoloured leaf doesn't question why it isn't entirely green anymore and it doesn't resist the changing season. It simply becomes what it was created to become.
There is a lesson in that.
You don't have to be who you were yesterday.
You are allowed to change, to heal and to love again. You are allowed to begin again and you are allowed to trust God with what you cannot yet see.
The most beautiful things in life aren't found in the seasons when everything is perfect.
They're found in the transition, in the becoming, in the unexpected, in the colours we didn't know were waiting to emerge.
So perhaps this little leaf is a reminder:
Don't be afraid of the changing colours of your life.
God may be creating something beautiful in the very season you thought was simply falling apart and if someone new has entered your life, don't be afraid to let the story unfold naturally.
Don't force the ending and also don't fear the unknown.
Just walk faithfully, love honestly, communicate openly and let God lead.
If it is meant to grow, He knows exactly how to make it bloom — even when you're standing in the middle of a changing season.
🍂 Sometimes becoming is the most beautiful form of beginning.
