Watered by Grace

I Asked God for Flowers and He Gave Me Rain  πŸŒ§️🌸

Not long ago, I asked Him for beauty, for blessings, for something gentle and good. I was tired. I longed for signs of life - something blooming to remind me that He was near, that He was listening, that He hadn’t forgotten me, but instead of flowers, He gave me rain.

At first, I didn’t understand. The skies grew heavy. Storms rolled in. My heart felt like it was standing out in the downpour, waiting, wondering why the answer to my prayer looked so much like silence… or even sorrow, but God wasn’t ignoring me. He was preparing me.

I’ve come to realise that flowers don’t come before the rain. They come because of it.

God, in His wisdom, didn’t give me what I wanted in the moment - He gave me what I needed to receive it fully in His time. The rain felt inconvenient, even painful, but it was His mercy. His provision. His process.

Scripture reminds us in Isaiah 55:10-11 πŸ“–:

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish... so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire…”

God’s promises are like seeds. They don’t bloom overnight. They take root in hidden places - deep within us - and often, they need the rain of trials, waiting and surrender to grow.

When we ask God for peace, sometimes He gives us storms so we can learn to lean on Him.

When we ask for strength, He allows struggle so our faith muscles grow.

When we ask for joy, He leads us through sorrow, so we learn it’s not found in circumstances, but in Him alone.

It took me a while to see it, but now I understand: the rain wasn’t a rejection. It was the beginning of the answer.

God gave me rain - not to punish me, but to water the very things He was growing in me: Patience, faith, trust and yes, one day… flowers.

Maybe you’re in a rainy season right now. Maybe you asked God for something good and all you see are clouds, but friend, don’t lose heart. The same God who sends the rain is faithful to bring the harvest.

In due time, you will see what He was doing all along.

Galatians 6:9 πŸ“– says:

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Keep prayingπŸ™, keep trusting✨ and keep standing in the rain🌧️ if you must, because somewhere beneath the surface, God is growing something beautiful🌸 and one day, when the flowers bloom, you’ll look back and say:

“Thank You, Lord, for the rain.”

With you on the journey,
