You Already Know
Overthinking is a Symptom, Not the Problem
Have you ever noticed that the times you overthink the most are also the times when something inside you feels... off?
I have...
and I’ve realized something simple but life-shifting after watching one of the podcasts of Keepers of the Fire with Ellen McNeil:
You only overthink when you go against your intuition!
When you’re following your intuition - that quiet inner knowing, that tug toward something even if it doesn’t make sense - there’s a peace - a quiet confidence. Even if the path is uncertain or unconventional, something inside says yes. It feels like alignment and like serenity.
There’s no mental chess game. No obsessively replaying conversations or running endless “what ifs.”
There’s just movement, flow and stillness, even amidst action.
But the moment you start overthinking?
That’s usually the moment you’ve already betrayed that inner knowing.
It’s not that you don’t know what to do - it’s that you're trying to talk yourself out of what you already know.
Trying to force logic over clarity.
Trying to make the “smart” choice instead of the true one.
Then your mind goes into overdrive, because it’s scrambling to create safety in a direction that, deep down, doesn’t feel right.
So start paying attention.
Not just to the thoughts, but to why they’re there.
Not just to the noise in your mind, but to the quiet in your body when something clicks.
Intuition doesn’t always make sense, but it always brings peace.
And overthinking? That’s just a flare, a symptom, a red flag.
A signal that you're not listening to what you already know.
So now, when you catch yourself spiraling in thought, don’t just try to “calm down” or “think positive.”
Pause and ask: What part of you already knows the answer, and what part of you is scared to follow it?
That one question - honest, compassionate and clear - has led me back to myself every time.
Because deep down, I always know...
and so do you!
With you on the journey,
