Born to Burn
The Universe Knew Better Than to Give Me a Dragon 🐉🔥
Acknowledging the fire without allowing it to consume you.
I have come to the conclusion that the universe knew EXACTLY what it was doing when it decided not to give me a dragon, because, honestly? I would have been a problem. 😂
I used to replay scenes of Daenerys Targaryen — Khaleesi, the Mother of Dragons — with a level of obsession that probably should have concerned someone.
There was just something about her and those magnificent creatures that had me hooked: The power, the loyalty, the fire and the sheer don't-mess-with-me energy.
Then more than 20 years ago, there was Eragon. Another movie I was absolutely obsessed with.
Dragons, destiny, magic and that extraordinary bond between a rider and a creature capable of bringing entire kingdoms to their knees.
Tell me why I was born into a world where my biggest responsibility is paying bills instead of commanding a fire-breathing beast?
Let me tell you something: if I had a dragon, some situations would have been handled VERY differently.
Someone disrespects me? Dracarys.
Someone mistakes my kindness for weakness? Dracarys.
Life throws another ridiculous plot twist my way? Well, we might need to have a little conversation about the structural integrity of the surrounding buildings. 🔥
I'm joking.
Mostly...😏
Imagine having a creature that could look at the world, spread its magnificent wings and remind everyone that you are NOT the one to be played with.
I mean, some people have a support system. Others have a therapist. I would have had a dragon.
Honestly, considering some of the chapters life has written for me, I think I would have made excellent use of one.
Perhaps there is a reason the universe never handed me one. It knew that the fire I carry is already enough, because the truth is, you don't need a dragon to burn things to the ground.
Sometimes, finding your strength means having the courage to walk away from what is destroying you.
It may mean letting old versions of yourself die, releasing what no longer serves you and refusing to give people continued access to the parts of you they keep trying to break.
In the end, choosing to rebuild rather than retaliate can be the most powerful statement of all. You can be a woman of faith, healing, compassion and grace while still admitting that a tiny, dragon-loving part of your soul would absolutely enjoy a dramatic entrance, wings spread wide and flames on standby. 🐉🔥
Healing doesn't mean you lose your fire.
It means you learn what deserves its warmth and what no longer deserves its flames.
So, universe, thank you for the lessons, the growth and the wisdom, but let's be honest... you were probably wise not to give me a dragon. I would have burnt sh!t to the ground.
Then I would have stood there, hands on my hips, watching the ashes settle, wondering why everyone was being so dramatic.
Some women want a knight in shining armour. I wanted a dragon and maybe, just maybe, the dragon I was waiting for was the fire I had to learn to control within myself.
