When Comfort Isn’t Enough: My Stand for Purpose
From Pixels to Purpose: My Journey from ICT to Life Coaching
I didn’t plan this path - not exactly. I started out armed with degrees in media management, computing and journalism - idealistic and ready to explore stories worth telling. In those days, I freelanced for a vibrant travel lifestyle magazine, crafting features that made readers dream of distant shores, cultural curiosities and the thrill of the unknown. I was enchanted by the power of perspective: how one voice could reframe an entire experience, but life isn’t always linear.
A serendipitous turn led me into the world of ICT sales - not the wild frontier I’d imagined, but something in the challenge called to me. For twenty years, I honed my skills, built relationships, met targets, delivered pitches and lived the rhythm of results. It was stable, it was strategic and truthfully, it paid the bills.
Yet, somewhere
beneath the structure and spreadsheets, I felt the tug of something quieter - a yearning to speak more freely, to write without a quota and to connect beyond
transactions. I was evolving and it showed up in moments: mentoring my friends/family
reframing doubt into clarity, encouraging others to trust their instincts.
Coaching wasn't on my résumé yet, but it had begun to live in my conversations.
So, I did something
bold - I left the familiar behind!
Now, I help others
tune in to their own inner truth. I draw on the skills from every chapter - the
clarity of journalism, the logic of computing, the empathy of storytelling and the
resilience of sales. It all feeds the coach I’ve become.
Leaving ICT didn’t
mean discarding it - It meant reclaiming my voice!
This isn’t just my career evolution. It’s a redefinition of success. From telling stories to helping others reframe their own. From selling solutions - to being one and I wouldn't change a thing!
