From Drained to Disciplined, From Lost to Found

Finding Myself Again: From Obsession to Balance

Life has a way of teaching us lessons through both triumphs and trials. My journey hasn’t been a straight line - far from it, but through it all, I’ve learned the value of self-discipline, faith and creating habits that nourish rather than destroy.

For years, I had a tendency to lean too heavily on one thing - whether it was work, exercise or another distraction - as a way to escape stress. What began as something “healthy” or “normal” slowly became an unhealthy obsession. My autoimmune disease eventually forced me to make a choice: continue down a path that drained and weakened me or step into a lifestyle that allowed me to thrive.

I chose health!

I replaced my obsessions with balance: workouts done in moderation, music that reconnected me with joy, time invested in building my business with intention and mindful eating that nourished my body. Exercise became medicine and discipline became freedom, but then, life tested me in a different way...

Losing Myself in a Relationship

I found myself in a manipulative relationship and slowly, all the healthy practices I worked so hard to build, were replaced by a new addiction: her.

I lost myself... my time, energy and focus went into trying to please someone who only drained me. My workouts stopped, my creativity faded and my routines disappeared.

I was no longer living for myself - I was living for someone else’s approval and that’s a dangerous place to be.

Choosing Myself Again

It took a hard wake-up call, but eventually, I realized I couldn’t keep living that way. I had to let go - not just of her, but of the version of myself that had forgotten her own worth.

Slowly, I rebuilt...

I picked up my guitar again and poured my emotions into music. I got back into the gym and onto the running trails -  this time not as an obsession, but as a practice of care. I began eating clean again, fueling my body instead of punishing it. I meditated on the Word and reconnected with nature, finding strength in stillness and faith.

Most importantly, I learned that true love isn’t about losing yourself - it’s about growing stronger together and if you’re losing yourself, that’s not love.

The Lesson I Teach Others

As a life coach, I now help others who feel trapped - whether in unhealthy habits, toxic relationships or cycles of overdoing. My story proves that discipline and balance can be rebuilt, no matter how far you’ve fallen.

I teach my clients this:

  • Spread your energy, don’t pour it all into one thing. Balance your daily life so that no single area consumes you.

  • Replace, don’t just remove. When you let go of something, fill the gap with something life-giving.

  • Protect your energy. Who and what you allow into your life shapes the path you walk.

  • Faith and routine are anchors. When everything feels unstable, consistency and belief keep you grounded.

If I can overcome unhealthy attachments - whether to habits, people or patterns - anyone can find their way back.

✨ Your past doesn’t define you - it refines you. The person you become through the struggle is the one who can guide others to freedom.
